CD case test.

Last lesson we created our own CD case nets using ideas form the other artists nets we looked at. I came up with a few ideas for my case but had test two of them by creating a small version of them both and then changed them as I found they didn't work either because I had worked out the measurement's wrong or the design didn't fit properly together. I created a scale version of one of the nets but have not finished this yet.

Nets

We have been creating album cases using different type of nets this is so we can see other designs that artist have done and then continue to create our own. We had to cut out the nets and stick them together I liked most of them, but the one I liked most was the four fold CD case by Laurent Seroussi for a album called No one is innocent. Im going to take this CD case and create my own CD case simular to it.

6 Images

I have chosen 6 images 3 by David Carson and 3 by Neville Brody. I have chosen these images because they are all different to one another but all have similar qualities. For example the writing is bold on them all but they have different effects and colours. This gave me ideas on what style of text  I want to use and how to present it in my work.

Ink Image

In to days lesson we had to re-create the image of David Carson's work of a banana. I first found a image of a banana and place it in Photoshop I then duplicated the image in cease I edited the image and found it didn't work this means i can start again quickly. I then used Desaturate to remove the colour from the image so it was black and white. I then found the edges of the bananas by using the find edges option. i then used the rubber tool to get rid of any details i didn't need. This relates to the brief as part of artist research and gave me more ideas on my final piece using some of the technique's used in this image.

Lyrics

I have decide to use lyrics from the song candle in the wind by Elton John because it has meaning to the British culture and history. The song was originally made as a tribute to Norma Jean (Marilyn Monroe) when she died, he then re-released it for princess Diana's Funeral. There for it has a lot of meaning to many people.

(Norma Jean)
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

(princess Diana)
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend ever will

Replicaing Neville Brody's work

In today's lesson i have been finishing my own image of one of Neville Brody's work with the original. I have been doing this as part of artist research. I think this will help me in the final image as it means i can see how other artist create there own letters and images using Photoshop and give me ideas for my own.

This is the piece of art work by Neville Brody that we was given to replicate using Photoshop.

This is my attempt at replicating the image above. to create this piece of work i started with finding a font that was similar to the one Brody used. I also opened the original image in a separate in photo shop, this is because i then used the eyedropper tool to get the exact colour of the letters. I did every letter separately and used the rubber tool and line tool to add the lines in the letters.

Typeography

Typeography is the use of words to create a image or picture that reflex it or relates to it. Most of them time the writing makes no sense and can just be singular words next to each other that all relate to the image.
